Three efficient drugs for male sexual dysfunction |

Sexual health and erectile function are important for most men. As males age, impotence is becoming increasingly more important. Since this problem is widely talked about in the media, men of all age groups are looking for aid and assistance to improve their relationships and have a satisfying intimate life. Approximately 30 million of males in the United States are estimated to be affected by erectile dysfunction. The U.S. FDA has approved only three oral medicines to treat erectile dysfunction: Cialis, Levitra, and Viagra. All work by escalating the flow of blood into the penis, so that when a man is sexually aroused, he can have an erection. There are minor differences in how long and how quickly the drug takes effect. Levitra works a little longer than Viagra. They both take effect in approximately half an hour. With Levitra, the effects last for approximately 5 hours, while the effects of Viagra for 4 hours. Cialis works a little faster (within approximately 15 minutes), and the effects last a lot longer - up to 36 hours in some cases. Although each medicine has proven efficacious, none is cure-all. Drug-to-drug interactions with nitrates or nitroglycerin heart medications can trigger a serious drop in blood pressure, which can be fatal. More general side effects, such as bad headaches, dizziness, upset stomach, facial flushing and - in case of Viagra - blurred vision can be observed. The medications are contraindicated in men with heart problems, physical deformities of the penis, in men with a predisposition to prolonged erections triggered by sickle cell anemia, plasma cell myeloma (a form of cancer), leukaemia, liver problems (particularly dangerous liver disorders), kidney problems and in people taking certain medications used for HIV or those over 65. There have been cases when males taking the medicines died during sex. Please, talk to your GP before taking the medications. If you are allowed to use one of the medicines, stringently follow the recommended dose. |
